EcoRES supports farmers and rural entrepreneurs with training, equipment, and research aimed at boosting food security and building alternative, climate-smart livelihoods.
What this service includes:
- Vocational & technical training—in agriculture, agribusiness, and entrepreneurship, delivered through long, short, and correspondence courses combining hands-on practice with theory (e.g., the EU-funded skills development training delivered with AESA and the Ministry for Gender and Youth).
- Alternative livelihood promotion—support to diversify household income through:
- Mushroom cultivation
- Livestock rearing: goat, duck, chicken, turkey, donkey, pig
- Alternative livestock: snail, grasscutter, rabbit
- Apiculture (beekeeping)
- Organic agriculture
- Agro-processing equipment—development and deployment of equipment to support small and medium agricultural enterprises.
- Research & development—farmer-focused, on-farm research; animal science; agroforestry technology; SME entry surveys and market research.
- Sustainable rural development—scaling up sustainable practices, bottom-up community-led development, and environmental conservation strategies aimed at improving rural livelihoods and food security.
Who it's for: smallholder farmers, rural entrepreneurs, youth and women seeking agribusiness skills, and community-level cooperatives.
